To add Hands Up to your meeting, simply upload the SWF file into your presentation. You can do this by uploading the SWF file directly from your computer into the meeting, or by uploading the SWF file into your Content Library and selecting it from your Content Library once in the meeting.
Upload directly into the meeting:
Do this by clicking ‘Pods > Share > Select from My Computer’. Locate the file on your hard drive and click ‘Open’.
Select from Content Library:
Do this by first uploading the SWF file into your Content Library (you will need administrative privileges to do this). Then click ‘Pods > Share > Select from Content Library’. Locate the file in the list and click ‘Open’.
Although the button sets will scale to fit your Hands Up share pod, be sure to scale the pod to a size where you can easily see the click counts below the buttons.
After adding Hands Up to your meeting, you may want to show your audience how to use it. To demonstrate the buttons and their usage to your audience, Hands Up has a feature which allows you to make the buttons pulse to draw attention to them. Do this by clicking the buttons when they do not have a number count displayed below them.
Once a participant clicks a button, a number representing the total number of participants who have clicked that button will appear over the button. To clear this display count, simply click the number to un-click all participants’ button clicks for this button. To clear an individual participant’s button click and reset their button, hover your mouse over the number to display the user list of participants who have clicked that button and click the ‘X’ next to the participant’s name. Participants can also un-click their buttons, removing their count from the total displayed.
By default all buttons will not have a timeout, which means that after a user clicks a button it will always be pressed until that user unclicks their button or the host clears their button. To change the button timeout setting, open the Admin Menu by clicking the grey 'i' icon in the bottom-right corner of the Hands Up pod. Select a new time interval form the Button Timeout dropdown list. This change will affect all buttons in each button sets except for the applause button.
To take a poll you can change the button set to display either letters A to J or numbers 1 to 10. Changing buttons sets will also reset all participants’ counts for all buttons. To change button sets, open the Admin Menu by clicking the grey 'i' icon in the bottom-right corner of the Hands Up pod. After selecting your desired button set from the Button Set dropdown, the button set will be changed for everyone taking part in the meeting.
Here are just a few examples of the new buttons sets in Hands Up:
By default, meeting participants cannot see how many times each button has been clicked as the host can. There may be some instances where you would like to share the results of your polls. To do this, open the Admin Menu by clicking the grey tab in the top-left corner of the Hands Up pod and check the box next to ‘Share Counts’. This will display the number count below each button in all button sets on everyone’s screen.
