Core Technologies

The Refined Environment Application runs on a Java platform and will therefore perform well on a wide variety of hardware and Java Enabled OS configurations, including but not limited to Unix, Linux, Windows, MacOS. The following specifications are provided as guidelines only since we have no specific preferences for one manufacturer over another.

For client-hosted implementations where the customer is responsible for maintenance of the hardware and the operating system component,  we are able to support your existing preferred vendor relationships. The system supports a wide range of redundancy environments, such as Raid Arrays, NAS, Dual Power Supply, Tape or BlueRay backup etc.

Hardware

The following components should be included in the selected hardware configuration:

• Minimum of 2Gb of RAM: Larger memory pool will improve application response time.
• Dual Core CPU 2.4GHz or higher: Processing of the large XML streams well benefit from Dual Core or Dual CPU. 
• Minimum of 50+Gb Free Hard Disk Space: Redundancy level should be chosen based on the company policies and best practices guidelines. 
• Backup Facility: Existing on-site or off-site backup facility can be used.

Software

Since the Refined Environment Solution runs as a Java Application, our only software requirement for the platform is JDK 1.6 or later. The client has complete flexibility over the choice of Operating System based on the environment with which they are most proficient and comfortable. Any standard commercial OS will be acceptable including Unix, Linux or Windows.

As an alternate consideration, the application can be supported under VMware or Xen VM potentially eliminating the need for additional hardware completely, providing you already run Virtual Servers in your IT Department. Our interface communicates with the outside world using HTTP protocol which you can choose to expose directly, or hide behind preferred Web Server, depending on your IT standards.
